Fajr Jam Refinery Company, the second-largest gas refinery in Iran, is located in Jam County, a district in Bushehr Province. One of the refinery’s products is LPG gas. This article focuses on analyzing the LPG gas composition from Fajr Jam Refinery:
Analysis of LPG Gas Parameters from Fajr Jam Refinery
C2 and Lighter
The amount of ethane and lighter hydrocarbons must be within a controlled range because a higher concentration of these components reduces fuel efficiency. Additionally, elevated levels of light and volatile compounds increase the fuel’s vapor pressure, which can compromise fuel safety.
In this analysis, the amount of ethane and lighter components is marked as “Trace,” indicating an extremely low and negligible presence of these compounds in the fuel. Therefore, the LPG provided demonstrates good efficiency and excellent safety standards.
C3 (Propane)
One of the main components of LPG gas is propane, which, along with butane, is expressed as a percentage in the LPG gas analysis of Fajr Jam Refinery. Propane gives LPG specific characteristics, including higher vapor pressure and stronger combustion properties. For this reason, the higher the percentage of propane in LPG, the more flammable the gas becomes. Propane evaporates more easily than butane at lower temperatures, making a higher percentage of propane ideal for better performance of LPG in colder climates.
C4
C4 refers to butane, and its two isomers, normal butane and isobutane, are also mentioned in parentheses (a separate article discusses the differences between isobutane and normal butane). Due to the higher boiling point of butane, the greater the amount of butane in the LPG mixture, the higher the boiling point of LPG, and its evaporation occurs at a higher temperature. Therefore, LPG with a higher percentage of butane is more suitable for use in warmer regions, as the ambient temperature in such areas is sufficient for the gas to evaporate and function effectively.
H2S
The amount of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) in this analysis is very low, indicating its high quality. High levels of hydrogen sulfide can cause problems such as equipment corrosion, reduced lifespan, and increased maintenance costs. Moreover, reducing H₂S levels not only enhances equipment safety and performance but also helps protect the environment, as lower levels of this compound minimize pollution and environmental damage.
RSH
Mercaptan, or RSH, is a compound that needs to be present in small amounts in the LPG gas analysis. Due to its distinct odor, mercaptan allows gas leaks to be detected, preventing potential accidents. However, it is important to ensure that the amount of mercaptan does not exceed the standard limit, as excessive levels can degrade gas quality and harm the environment.
How to Purchase LPG Gas from Fajr Jam Refinery
